Cultural Matrix

Your thoughts, habits, even your sense of self—none of them are fully yours. Culture, language, and technology shaped you long before you noticed.

Cultural Drops

Cultural Matrix maps how predictive feedback loops create multiple “versions of humanity,” highlighting both the constraints they impose and the possibilities they open.

🧠 Recursive Identity

Cosmic Code: The Glitch That Sings

Cosmic Code: The Glitch That Sings

Investigates the idea that reality operates like code—structured yet prone to error. From physics to cognition, patterns repeat across scales. This book maps how glitches in the “universe’s operating system” create both failure and unexpected creativity. Read more...

Glitch: The Universe That Got Lucky With You

Glitch: The Universe That Got Lucky With You

Explores how randomness and error drive emergence. From quantum noise to social systems, what looks accidental often forms the basis of order. This book reframes “glitch” as the engine of complexity—including human consciousness itself. Read more...

Hiatuca: The Recursive Loop That Made You

Hiatuca: The Recursive Loop That Made You

Shows how identity emerges from predictive loops: brains anticipate, cultures reinforce, and individuals repeat. These feedback cycles—from childhood language to adult beliefs—explain why change feels so difficult yet possible. Enter the loop...

A Universe of Loops

A Universe of Loops

Synthesizes the project’s core insight: feedback loops shape everything from galaxies to habits. Offers a framework for seeing recurrence and recursion as the underlying architecture of meaning, memory, and culture. Read more...

🔍 Culture

The Cultural Matrix Cover

The Cultural Matrix

Culture functions like background code—shaping what feels normal, acceptable, or impossible. This book maps how rituals, norms, and institutions create recursive systems that sustain identity and behavior. Read more...

On Meaning Cover

On Meaning

Examines how meaning is constructed, disrupted, and remade in the age of digital overload. Frames purpose as an emergent property of recursive narratives, rather than a fixed essence. Read more...

Mind Less - Care More Book Cover

Mind Less - Care More

A critique of the optimization industry and self-improvement culture. Argues that relentless self-monitoring creates noise that obscures deeper systemic intelligence. Read more...

🌌 Origins

From Stardust to Self Cover

From Stardust to Self

Traces the continuity from cosmic origins to human consciousness. Shows how matter, energy, and information form recursive structures leading from particles to people. Read more...

The Roots of Abrahamic Faiths Cover

The Roots of Abrahamic Faiths

Analyzes Judaism, Christianity, and Islam as cultural operating systems. Focuses on the recursive stories, practices, and feedback loops that sustain these traditions across centuries. Read more...

💓 Emotion

Finding Your Way Cover

Finding Your Way

Offers a non-dogmatic framework for constructing personal meaning. Combines narrative and systems analysis to help readers navigate cultural disorientation without falling into rigid belief systems. Read more...

The Intelligent Body Cover

The Intelligent Body

Examines the body as a predictive system with embedded intelligence. Shows how physiological feedback—breath, posture, trauma patterns—interacts with cultural loops to shape experience. Read more...

Before You Break Her Heart Book Cover

Before You Break Her Heart

A practical case study in emotional systems. Analyzes relationship breakdowns as failures of recursive emotional feedback, and offers tools for maintaining presence under stress. Read more...

About Cultural Matrix

Cultural Matrix examines how cultures and humans co-create each other. Drawing on anthropology, neuroscience, and systems theory, Willem DeWit analyzes the recursive loops linking individual brains with collective norms and institutions. These loops explain how meaning is stabilized, reproduced, and transformed across generations.

Case studies range from Zen monasteries and Maasai initiation rituals to creation myths and present-day AI platforms. Each example shows how language, ritual, and social structure act as cultural software: coding not just behavior, but the very experience of self and reality.

The focus is not on personal optimization but on understanding the system. Taken together, these books map a single problem: how systems create minds, and how minds create systems in return. Each title is an entry point into that larger investigation.
